KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) ---Bean Station Police say one of their officers has shot and wounded a woman after a car chase from Grainger to Hawkins County.
Officers haven't identified the officer or the suspect. But they say the incidents began just before 11 o'clock Friday night when they tried to stop a pickup on US 25 East.
Police say they suspected the driver was wanted for violating probation, and had been indicted for making methamphetamine.
Investigators say the woman fled and crashed into a ditch. They ordered her out, but they say she drove toward them. One officer opened fire.
The suspect reportedly is in critical condition at UT Medical Center.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations is looking into the shootings.
Volunteer TV News will continue following this story and post developments as they take place.
