KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- East Tennessee companies have laid off thousands of workers in recent months. But a pair of Knoxville business friends want to help those laid off get a job for free.
Aaron Webb lost his job with Goody's.
"It's just unfortunate that the economy's very tight", says Webb.
Webb says despite being laid off two months ago, he's keeping positive about finding another job.
Thousands like Webb have lost jobs across East Tennessee. Webb says that's made his job search more labor intensive.
"I spend two hours a day searching the net for jobs to place a resume at", says Webb.
One of those websites Webb placed his resume on one created by Brandon Clarke and Casey Peters. "It's tough for a lot of people right now. So we're just trying to do our part", says Clarke.
Clarke and Peters created the website, Knoxify, in their spare time a year ago. The blog originally promoted what the city has to offer but after job offers shrank, they began posting resumes, like Webb's, for free.
So far, nearly 70 job seekers have emailed resumes. Knoxify even began to post online videos with job seekers recently.
Webb says his post has got him some offers.
"Unfortunately they didn't work, but it gave me hope someone will come through with it", says Webb.
If you'd like to post your resume to Knoxify, send it in an email to tips@knoxify.com.
