KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Santa's coming to town. In fact he's already in Sevier County, where hundreds of Santa Clauses are attending the world's largest Santa workshop to help out he real Santa.
Since the real Kris Kringle is already getting started with making his list and checking it twice, he gets help from Santas who represent him out at stores and other appearances across the nation.
Nearly 700 Santas from all over the world attended the Celebrate Santa Convention at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. They're at the event to learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to representing the real Mr. Claus. It's the first time the event's been held in Gatlinburg.
"It's a learning thing, even after 35 years. You can still learn things from the other Santa's and get out and see what's going on in the rest of the world, the camaraderie with the other Santas is super", says Gloria Wendling.
Wendling and her husband Dennis have been bringing the joy of Santa to towns in Illinois for decades. They represent Mr. and Mrs. Claus at hospitals and churches.
Gloria's teaching a workshop on how to be your best Mrs. Claus.
"Whether or not they want to be a Mrs. Claus known as a cookie baker or one that gets out in the public", says Wendling.
From choosing the right Santa wardrobe--to workshops on how Santa stays organized and the history of Santa--this convention has it all.
And organizers say it's also a merry event for families. They can see everything from Santa's cyber sleigh to his famous reindeer.
But one question remains--Who is the real Santa?
"He's here somewhere and it's for you to find out which one is the real Santa. And that's by the twinkle in his eye", says the Wendlings.
