MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Authorities have arrested a Madisonville man on a number of drug and weapons related charges.
Dennis Meadows was taken into custody on Monday following a sting operation in which he allegedly sold prescription drugs to undercover agents. The investigation reached its peak when an undercover agent allegedly traded a vehicle to Meadows in return for a vehicle.
Law enforcement agencies used evidence gathered in the sting to obtain search warrants against Meadows. On Monday and Tuesday, agents from the 10th Judicial Drug Task Force and 5th Judicial Drug Task Force along with officers from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Madisonville Police Department and Vonore Police Department executed warrants on three properties around the county where Meadows has been known to live.
Authorities say the searches turned up even more evidence and they’re now trying to officially seize several items including 90 vehicles and more than 30 firearms, some of which were illegally modified shotguns and rifles.
Meadows was taken into custody with Hydrocodone in his possession at one of the properties. His charges include possession of schedule II and schedule III narcotics, unlawful possession of a firearm, alteration of a serial number, theft and animal cruelty. His bond was set at $250,000.
Agents also arrested Crystal Watson in connection with the raids. She has been charged with possession of schedule III narcotics and her bond has been set at $10,000.
Officers say they’ll seek other indictments related to the case at the next meeting of the Monroe County Grand Jury.
