KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Governor Phil Bredesen was in Knoxville on Thursday night where the East Tennessee Historical Society presented him with a plaque in recognition for his historic preservation efforts across the state.
One of his biggest efforts included awarding state grants to the Museum of East Tennessee History's signature exhibition, Voices of the Land: The People of East Tennessee.
“I was very flattered to be honored tonight and in this way,” said Gov. Bredesen, “but it's really the board of this historical society and people in Knoxville who deserve this honor. This is really a wonderful exhibit at the museum."
The exhibit was paid for with a $2.5 million state grant as well as private donations.
