UPDATED 5/3/09 6:24 p.m.: KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The National Weather Service confirms that an EF1 tornado touched down Sunday in Cumberland County about 5:22 p.m. CST.
Cumberland County resident Reid Tatum says, "I heard a freight train coming over the house."
The tornado's winds reached an estimated 100 to 105 miles per hour, according to Henry Steigerwaldt with the NWS.
Steigerwaldt says the twister's debris path spanned three miles, and at its widest point was between 200 and 250 yards wide.
It touched down southwest of downtown Crossville near Tailors Chapel Road and moved northeast to Spiers Way Road.
Damage consisted of uprooted trees, snapped trees and some roof damage, but there were no injuries.
Cleanup is now underway following Sunday evening's tornado that ripped through a three mile area in Crossville.
Other than his fruit orchard, Reid Tatum is counting his blessings.
Tatum says, "Yeah, we were worried, but we learned pretty quick there was no damage to the house, just on either side of it, so we dodged a bullet."
Others were not so lucky. Emergency management officials say 15 homes were damaged.
Cumberland County resident Mildred Deatherage says, "We had a total I think of about eight trees on the roof of our house."
Deatherage is now working to save the inside of her home.
She says, "They tried to put some tarps on it last night, and they came back and they're working today."
Crews worked diligently to restore power back to all homes, but some homes' wiring systems may have been damaged.
Mildred Deatherage's son, Paul Deatherage, says, "These guys said that they're all ready to cut it on, just as soon as we get it approved."
While some say they have no idea how long it will take to clean up their yard, others are not really worried about it.
Tatum says, "No, we won't get it cleaned up today. I'm not too worried about it. Most of the trees are down in the woods, and they can stay there for a while."

IT WAS A TORNADO AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THE COMMUNITY COME TOGETHER TO CLEAN IT UP AND THAT THE EMERGENCY RESPONDERS DONE THE BEST THAT COULD BE EXPECTED WITH AS LITTLE TIME AS THEY HAD TO PREPARE
Great storm coverage!. You did this better than anyone! And that was a tornado, because I've been in lots of tornadoes ,including some while I've visited Tennessee as a child.
Also, the last tornado to come through this part of the county three years ago was past here and near town before the first warning was posted. Really helpful when it hits and leaves, then you get the warning.
