KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- We've heard of it before.
Now, for the second time in as many years, there's a bear on the run in west Knoxville.
This one's in Bearden where last night it smashed open the door of a house.
It's not uncommon for bears to head to the city this time of year.
Last year, one was caught in June after running around in West Hills and Oak Ridge.
They're on a hunt for food!
Becky Mash says, "When you're going on a walk in the city you don't expect to see a big black bear on somebody's porch."
But that's what Tom and Becky Mash found when they were taking their two dogs, Sadie and June for a walk Wednesday evening.
Becky says when they topped the hill of Renford Road,
"My little dog, June, started barking and there was this black bear on my neighbor's porch."
A neighbor across the street says her daughter was on the phone with the woman when the dog started barking.
"Pat says, what is wrong? She says the bear came in. The bear is in my living room," says Daviena Kelly.
Mash says, "It just dives right through the glass storm door, shattered everywhere, and she freaked out and screaming."
Mash says she went to get help but when they got back the bear was gone.
"She told my husband that it had made a round in her living room on the tops of the couches and stuff," says Mash.
The woman was not injured in the incident but wildlife officers came and have put a trap out in the hopes of catching the bear.
Daviena Kelly says this is not their first go round with bear. One visited her other next door neighbor.
"Oh, it was here last year for a week. A week it came up here on her deck. She had laid bird seed on the deck," says Kelly.
With a bear on the loose, Kelly says she's glad she's got wrought iron on her storm doors.
"They can't get in here, front or back. I'm not afraid of it anyway. I'm not afraid of it coming in here," says Kelly.
TWRA officials say the bear may continue on and make it's way out of the area.
But if it is caught in the trap, it will be taken to a very remote area of the Cherokee National Forest far away from people.

It seems funny that the bear was in the Bearden Community! Of course the community pronounces it beard-en, but the bear may think it's bear-den! :-) Sorry, couldn't resist.
