UPDATE 6/5/09 5:42 p.m.: KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A body pulled from the water at the Fort Dickerson quarry in South Knoxville has been identified as David Owens, 22, who had been missing and presumed drowned since Sunday evening.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Rescue works say they have discovered that appears to be a body in the water at the rock quarry at Fort Dickerson in South Knoxville where David Owens, 22, went missing Sunday evening.

Rescue workers were using an underwater camera affixed to an underwater robot to search the area when they found the apparent body between 100 and 200 feet below the water's surface.

Professional divers from Rhea's Diving Services in Maryville have been called to the scene, and they should be in the water by 5 p.m. Friday.

"Diving below 100 feet requires special certified divers called 'mixed gas divers,' " Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad spokesman Steve Slack says. " 'Mixed gas divers' are required to alleviate the possibility of nitrogen narcosis (the bends)."

The Video Ray underwater robot being used in the search was donated to the rescue squad by the AWPE Wildland Fire School in Sweden.
