KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Federal agents are working with the Knox County Sheriff’s deputies to track down the man responsible for robbing a West Knoxville bank on Thursday evening.
Deputies said the robbery happened at the First Tennessee Bank on Hardin Valley Road around 5:20 PM. That is when the suspect walked up to a teller and pulled out a dark, large framed revolver with wooden grips. He then jumped the counter, obtained an undetermined amount of cash and fled from the bank into some nearby woods.
Reports from the scene indicate at least one witness told investigators she saw a dye pack explode as the suspect ran into the woods.
The suspect is described as an unshaven white man in his 50s or early 60s with gray facial hair and tanned arms. He has a slim build, weighing about 160 lbs and standing 5’7”.
A reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. If you can help, contact the FBI at 865-544-0751 or sheriff’s office at 865-215-2243.
