HAMBLEN COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Morristown police have arrested the man they say robbed a Dollar General at gunpoint last month.
Ronnie J. Lawson, 30 was taken into custody late Tuesday night at the Parkway Inn on Highway 25E in south Morristown.
Lawson was added to the Morristown Most Wanted list on June 16th.
On June 4th, he allegedly held up the Dollar General on East Andrew Johnson Highway in Morristown with a handgun. He demanded money from the registers and investigators believe he fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.
Officers later identified Lawson as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. After nearly a month of searching surrounding counties, they received a tip that he was staying the Parkway Inn.
On Tuesday evening, officers identified the room Lawson was staying in and with the help of the US Marshal’s Service and Hamblen County sheriff’s deputies; he was taken into custody without incident.
“Officers have worked very long hours to arrest Mr. Lawson,” said Roger Overholt, chief of the Morristown Police Department. “It is important that we do all we can to apprehend anyone who is willing to endanger the lives of others in such a reckless manner”.
Lawson faces aggravated armed robbery charges.
