UPDATE: Police name suspect, victim and charges in deadly shooting
A man was shot to death in East Knoxville around 5:15 p.m. Friday near the Walter P. Taylor housing project.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A man was shot Friday evening in an East Knoxville convenience store. He died overnight.
Police say the shooting happened about 5:15 PM at Walter P. Taylor Market and Deli on McConnell Street. Ronald Gilmore, Jr., 29, was inside the deli when another man opened fire.
Gilmore was struck and died early the next morning.
Another unidentified man was hit, but he survived.
Witnesses described the suspect and the car the suspect used to flee the scene, allowing officers to issue a warning for patrol units to be on the lookout for a red Cadillac sedan with chrome wheels.
A KPD unit responding to the scene spotted the suspect’s car near the scene of the shooting and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, who has been identified as Richard Smith, 18, apparently refused to pull over and lead the officer on a chase with speeds reportedly topping 75 miles per hour.
A few moments later Smith crossed into oncoming traffic along Brooks Avenue.
"A Lincoln Town Car was attempting to make a left hand turn, probably to get out of the way of the police car and suspect car that were coming up behind it,” said Lt. Kenny Miller with the Knoxville Police Department. “When he went to make the left hand turn, the suspect did pass him on the double yellow line and did strike his car."
Smith's vehicle came to a stop in front of Mount Zion Church and he fled on foot. Officers called in K-9 units and ended up taking him into custody a few minutes later.
Investigators said the driver of the Lincoln had to be taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment. Reports from the scene indicated the driver of the vehicle had suffered some sort of head injury in the collision.
Smith is facing aggravated assault, possession of a prohibited weapon and reckless endangerment.
It is likely a grand jury will increase those charges.
