(WVLT) - An Eastern Kentucky family has spent the last four years searching for a loved one who they lost contact with when she was only one years old. Now, they're using a popular website to aid in their search.
Jared Stacy says he's the father of a beautiful 5 year old girl. The only problem is Stacy hasn't seen his daughter in over 4 years.
"It's just been a long time since I've seen her... and just trying to get a hold of my daughter," Stacy said.
Stacy says his ex-girlfriend disappeared with his daughter when she was only a year old.
"We just want to be able to see Elissa because we love Elissa, she is part of our family," said Vanessa Ritchie, Stacy's father. Ritchie says Elissa's mother, Johnvanni, suddenly moved out of their home in Texas in September 2002.
"We contacted some of his friends in Dallas and they said that the mother, the grandmother, and Elissa had all three moved in the middle of the night," said Ritchie.
So, after missing four years of Elissa's life, the family decided to set up a MySpace page.
"By noon time we already had 250 bulletins out and it was by four o'clock that afternoon, we had already reached over 10,000 people," said Ritchie.
The family says they have received messages from all over the United States and world.
"We're trying to get this information into as many hands and as many homes as we can," said Jared Stacy.
The family says they just want the opportunity to see Elissa again.
"Every father deserves that chance and every aunt and uncle and grandmother, they deserve it, too," said Ritchie.
Jared Stacy says a friend of theirs also put a video together and posted it on another popular website, YouTube.com.
