KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knoxville Police called to a South Knoxville home for an alleged attempted home burglary arrested a man and woman in connection with a downtown Knoxville carjacking and Lake City robbery, according to Knoxville Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk.

DeBusk says when officers arrived at the home in the 2400 block of Sam Houston Street the spotted the stolen vehicle in the backyard with a woman nearby. She was detained, and the male suspect took off into some woods.

A K-9 officer and his dog were called to the scene and tracked down the hiding suspect. The suspects' names have not been released.

Around 10 a.m. Thursday, Police believe the man carjacked a woman in downtown Knoxville and then used the car he stole from her in a robbery at the Scottish Inn in Lake City, according to Lake City Police.

The stolen car matches the description of a vehicle that was later used in a robbery at a Lake City Scottish Inn.

Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk says the carjacking happened at the intersection of Main Street and State Street as the woman was parking her car.

She told officers that she was approached by a white man who forced her to the ground and took off in her car. She suffered a minor injury when she hit the pavement.

Around 12:45 p.m. Thursday, the Scottish Inn was robbed in Lake City, and police say the description of the vehicle used in that robbery matches the description of the carjacked vehicle.

The stolen vehicle is a gray, 2004 Nissan Morano with Tennessee tag number 340KKJ.

The suspect is a 30 to 40 year old white man. He was wearing an orange bandanna, a white T-shirt and jeans.
