Knoxville (WVLT) - A new chapter in the horrific murders for a young Knoxville couple, as now police begin analyzing forensic evidence and conducting interviews. Meanwhile, we are learning more about the federal charges filed against four men connected with Knoxville's double homicide investigation.

Four men all connected to the same crime. They appeared in federal court to learn about the charges filed against them in connection with the murders of Channon Christian and Christoper Newsom.

"Right now the charges we have are best placed in federal system," Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk said.

In Knoxville, 25-year-old Lamaricus Davidson faces three federal charges: possession of firearms as a convicted felon, carjacking and possession of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. If convicted, he'll face the death penalty.

Thirty-four-year-old Eric Dwayne Boyd is charged with accessory after the fact. Police say he helped Davidson hide, knowing of his involvement in the carjacking. Both will return to court Thursday, January 18th.

"Two went beyond state lines, so we needed their help in trying to locate and return them to Knoxville should that happen," DeBusk said.

That will happen next Wednesday the 17th when 24-year-old Letalvis Cobbins and George Thomas appear for a removal hearing in Kentucky to bring the case back to Knoxville. They were both caught in Lebanon, Kentucky Thursday. Cobbins faces charges of possession of ammunition as a convicted felon.

Police found two rounds of ammunition in the home where they found Christian's body. They say Cobbins' fingerprints were on them.

George Thomas is charged as an accessory to carjacking.

"There could be some additional charges filed as the investigation continues. The outcome of the investigation will determine the charges," DeBusk said.

Police have been working overtime since Sunday to find answers from the four men.

"We got everyone that we were looking for. We are very excited about that, the officers, investigators are happy about that, the family is relieved," DeBusk said.

The four men will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal service until their next court appearances.
