Funeral arrangements for fallen marine, former UT student announced
Funeral arrangements for the former University of Tennessee student who was killed last week in Afghanistan are now complete.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Funeral arrangements for the former University of Tennessee student who was killed last week in Afghanistan are now complete.
Lance Corporal Gregory Alan Posey, 22 was shot in his chest during combat July 30th in the Helmand province of Afghanistan. He later passed away from his injuries.
LCpl. Posey’s body will arrive at the Winchester Airport in Middle Tennessee at 2:00 p.m. CST on Thursday.
Visitation for the Marine will be held the following day from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST at Moore-Corner Funeral Home in Winchester. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CST inside the Moore Cortner Chapel in Winchester. He’ll be laid to rest following the service at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
LCpl. Posey grew up in Winchester and graduated from Franklin County High School in 2005. He went on to attend UT where he took computer science and engineering classes.
He joined the Marine Corp in March 2007 and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion; 8th Marine Regiment (Golf Company) based out of Camp Lejeune, NC. The unit deployed to Afghanistan on May 18th, 2009.
