BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- One year ago Sunday Mike Hearon disappeared.
It seems he vanished into the Blount County mountain air.
So what happened to this respected man with no known enemies?
"It's been rough. I mean, there's not a day go by where I've not thought about it or ran the scenario over in my head," says Matt Hearon, Mike's son.
It's been a long year for Matt whose father Mike disappeared near his Tallassee home almost one year ago.
"The last conversation we had, we had thought about actually going to the races that weekend in Bristol," says Matt.
Instead, Matt's family, friends, and later law enforcement began searching the many acres near his home trying to find him.
Searches turned into days, weeks, and then a few months.
"It's a mind boggling case. We've put thousands of man hours in it," says Blount County Sheriff's Department Investigator Mike Seratt.
The only clue, his ATV.
Law enforcement says there's just not enough to say either way if Mike's disappearance was foul play or not, but family has their feelings on it.
"The four wheeler should not have been there where it was found and how it was found," says Matt.
Now, there are not as many leads coming in as to Mike's disappearance as there once was.
"We want to find out what has happened and it's just an emotional roller coaster," says Matt.
So on the anniversary Sunday of Mike's disappearance, family, friends, and the community are gathering at Smithview Pavilion in Maryville in the hopes of getting the talk going again and hopefully get closure.
"That they can share with the police, even if they think it's insignificant, it might be a piece of information that we really need," says Jamey Hearon, Mike's daughter-in-law.
"I think all of us still have hope that we will find out one day what happened," says Matt.
Family and friends invite you to attend the "Find Mike Hearon Awareness Campaign" Sunday at 2 at the Smithview Pavilion off Smithview Road.
That's near the intersection of highway 321 East and Tuckaleechee Pike.
If you have information on the case call the Blount County Sheriff's Department at 273-5000.
