KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- For 127 years now, we celebrate all the hard working people of this country, but with a tight job market, some are just happy to have a pay-check coming in.

Floyd Tuggle says, "In these times, hard economic times, it's a blessing. The Lord has really blessed us to give us a good job in East Tennessee"

So Floyd is taking his holiday and spending it with his family, at the Teamsters Local 519 union Labor Day picnic.

Floyd says, "It's a celebration of being able to work and being able to provide for your family in these hard time."

Wes Trotterchaud, President of the union, says, "We've had companies going out of business, jobs being shipped overseas, we need to bring America, and make America, America again, where the workers of America make this country."

Wes hopes people appreciate the jobs they have, and says, "Most of us forget what our forefathers had done for us, they forget to the 40 hour work week, they forget overtime pay, they forget vacations, they forget health-care, they forget pension, they take this for granted."

Debbie Clowers says, "So many of the workers who are out of work right now, and here we are celebrating labor and the economy is what it is right now."

But Debbie is happy to have a day off from the post office, to spend with her family, "And it's a day for everybody, not just the ones that are still working, but those that aren't right now," added Debbie.

And it's back to normal Tuesday, as schools will be back in, and many people will head back to work.

But just like many people mentioned today, they're just happy they have a job to go back to.
