PINPOINT 8 WEATHER CENTER (WVLT) -- Flooding is a major concern for the region for Saturday. There is a 100% chance of rain, and with the soaked ground, flooding is likely all over East Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky, and reaching up onto the Plateau.

There are Flood Watches and Warnings in effect around the region, because of all the rain.

Please be cautious, and do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.

There have been several reports of hazardous roads coming into the Volunteer TV newsroom.

Also, in hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Try to find alternate routes, and avoid areas that you know are prone to flooding.

If you live in an area that has flooded before, Saturday is a day that is likely to happen again, so seek shelter somewhere else if possible.

And, remember, it only takes a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry you, or even a vehicle, away.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation is reporting several roads affected by the weather, on their website SMARTMAP.

State Route 90, both North and Southbound, all lanes blocked due to high water. This is at the Campbell, Claiborne County line, as of 3 p.m., so use caution in that area, and find an alternate route.

State Route 297 Northbound in Campbell County, at Howard Baker Highway, the road is partially blocked because of trees in the road.

Interstate 75 in Campbell County, dense patchy fog is affecting traffic from mile marker 147 to the Kentucky state line. Use caution in the area.

911 Dispatch in Sevier County tells Volunteer TV there are several roads closed due to flooding, so they would like for people to avoid getting out on the roads if possible. They also have power lines and trees that have been brought down onto roads because of the rain.

Also, Ski View Road in Gatlinburg is closed, and the area has been evacuated due to a mudslide.

The Elkmont Campground in Sevier County, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, has had to evacuate around 170 campers, due to flooding. Park Rangers tell Volunteer TV it probably won't be until Sunday, before anyone will be allowed back on the grounds.

Knox County has several roads affected by heavy rainfall. TDOT reports Broadway, starting at Tazewell Pike until Emory Road, is flooded on both sides of the road. Drivers are advised to use caution on this road.

Also in Knox Co., Lovell Road, between Middlebrook Pike and Oak Ridge Highway, is flooded in many areas, so be careful in the area.
