SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Former President George W. Bush was in East Tennessee on Wednesday evening to speak at a Christian conference in Sevierville.

Bush delivered the keynote speech at the Phil Waldrep Ministries “Celebrators” conference.

The 4-day long conference is being held at the Sevierville Events Center and Wilderness at the Smokies resort and also featured a concert by singer Sandi Patty, worship led by Charles Billingsley and daily addresses by David Jeremiah.

The president’s speech was delivered as part of the “Celebrate America” portion of the conference.

During his speech, he reflected on his presidency as well as the lessons he’s learned about leadership and decision making. He also talked about the impact of his faith on his decision to run, and decisions as for the presidency.

“It's just good to know that our leaders have those Christian values,” said Kay Gray who attended the speech.

Gray was just one of more than 8,500 people who signed up to participate in the private conference. Seats to the president’s speech had been sold out since June.
