HARROGATE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Claiborne County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a Thursday evening shooting that apparently started as a land dispute, according to CCSO Capt. David Honeycutt.
Honeycutt says officer responded to some property on Regent Dr. in the Harrogate area between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. They found Brad Robbins, 55, of 122 Wellington Street in Harrogate, suffering gunshot wounds to the arm and the chest. Honeycutt says Robbins was shot by John Roberts, 48, of 237 Regent Dr. in Harrogate. Both men were armed and fired at each other.
Honeycutt says it appears Robbins was shot by a single bullet fired from Robert's 17-caliber, bolt-action target pistol. Robbins was armed with a .357 Glock semiautomatic handgun.
The round traveled through Robbins' arm and hit his chest. Honeycutt says he's in stable condition.
Honeycutt says Roberts was using a bulldozer to clear some land when he was approached by Robbins. The two began arguing over who owns the property when the argument turned violent, according to Honeycutt.
No arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed, but that may change, Honeycutt says.
