1 dead in E. Tenn. after boat sinks
A man is dead after a boat sank on Cherokee Lake near the Hamblen-Grainger county line Wednesday morning, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Volunteer TV News has a crew en route to the scene.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A man is dead after a boat sank on Cherokee Lake near the Hamblen-Grainger county line Wednesday morning, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Volunteer TV News has a crew en route to the scene.
The incident happened around 10:50 a.m. Wednesday near the Highway 25E bridge.
The body of a 60-year-old man was pulled from the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man's identity has not been released, pending notification of his relatives.
Witnesses at Lakeside Marina had said the boat ran aground and the man was ejected from the boat and landed in the water, but TWRA officials say the do not believe the man hit anything, but the boat is presumed to be at the bottom of the lake.
