KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The State of Tennessee has chipped in $10,000 in an effort to find the suspect who gunned down a Corryton store owner.
Jim Mullins was killed six weeks ago in his Rutledge Pike Discount Store. With the state’s contribution, the reward now stands at $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of his killer.
Family members are still grieving his loss, but were happy the state decided to lend a hand.
"My brother was a good brother,” said Sonny Mullins, Jim. “He didn't deserve to die the way he died."
Since his death, Sonny has been working hard to get more reward money.
"The family can't relax,” he said. “We can't go forward until they charge somebody and find out for sure that's who did it."
The Mullins family is now asking for help from the community. If you know what happened on this day, please contact the authorities.
"We just need all the help we can to find out who did this," said Del Morgan, a friend of the Mullins family.
Deputies said they’re following several leads, but aren't releasing specifics. Investigators have vowed to stay on top of this case.
"They are not going to give up until they find the people who did this," Morgan said.
If you have any information about the murder of Jim Mullins, call the Knox County Sheriff’s Office tip line at (865) 215-2243.
