Morristown boating victim identified
A state wildlife official says a 60-year-old Morristown man drowned in Cherokee Lake.

BEAN STATION, Tenn. (AP) -- A state wildlife official says a 60-year-old Morristown man drowned in Cherokee Lake.
The official identified the man on Thursday as Lester R. Lawson, whose body was found floating near Bean Station.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officer Nathan Ripley told The Knoxville News Sentinel Lawson put his 14-foot aluminum boat into the lake Wednesday morning.
There were no witnesses to what happened, but Lawson's body was later found with no life jacket. The boat had sunk in 60-80 feet of water.
Ripley said a coroner ruled the cause of death was drowning.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A man is dead after a boat sank on Cherokee Lake near the Hamblen-Grainger county line Wednesday morning, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Volunteer TV News has a crew en route to the scene.
The incident happened around 10:50 a.m. Wednesday near the Highway 25E bridge.
The body of a 60-year-old man was pulled from the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man's identity has not been released, pending notification of his relatives.
Witnesses at Lakeside Marina had said the boat ran aground and the man was ejected from the boat and landed in the water, but TWRA officials say the do not believe the man hit anything, but the boat is presumed to be at the bottom of the lake.
