1 dead, 5 hurt in Orlando shooting; gunman caught

2:36 p.m.: ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Police in Orlando say a gunman has been apprehended after killing one person and injuring five others at a downtown office building where he was let go two years ago.
Police Chief Val Demings says 40-year-old Jason Rodriguez surrendered to police at his mother's home after officers saw him through a window and asked him to come out.
She confirms that one person was killed in the shooting at the Legion Place office building downtown. Five others were hurt.

2:19 p.m.: Orlando media outlets now saying one person is dead, after earlier reporting two deaths. Also, WFTV-TV reports that Jason Rodriguez has been taken into custody.

1:46 p.m.: Orlando Police say they have six shooting victims, other sources have told media that there are seven shooting victims and an eighth person who suffered a heart problem. Earlier reports of as many as 17 shot appear to be incorrect.

1:30 p.m.: Orlando Police say Rodriguez is a former employee of a business inside of Gateway Center.

1:25 p.m.: WKMG reports that the suspect has been identified as a man named Jason Rodriguez.

1:15 p.m.: Local media outlets in Orlando report that as many as 17 others, in addition to the two dead, may have been shot at the Gateway Center highrise, 1000 Legion Place, in Orlando.

12:58 p.m.: WFTV in Orlando reports that at least two people are dead in the shooting at a downtown Orlando office building.

12:55 p.m.: CNN reporting that officials describe four of the eight shooting victims as "trauma red," which is a critical status.

12:40 p.m. UNDATED (WVLT) -- CNN is reporting that as many as eight people may have been shot at a downtown Orlando highrise at the Gateway Center. The exact number of shooting victims is not clear.
The shooter is apparently still on the loose.
