KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A woman was shot Monday evening while driving through northwest Knoxville.

It happened just before 7:00 p.m. in the Lonsdale community.

Knoxville Police said the woman was driving down Minnesota Avenue when a bullet came through the door and struck her in the leg. She was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they weren’t sure if the bullet was purposely fired at her car or if it was a stray gunshot.

Kindle, i see you live in WestKnoxville and am so glad to hear that crime doesn't happen in you neighborhood. Many good people live in Lonsdale. I had lived here for 45 years and my parents and their friends have lived here for 70. There are two parts of the Lonsdale Community. One, being the single family houses that are historic and are being modernized by many. The second part is the Lonsdale Homes Housing projects. As we all know that housing projects have good people in them as well as those that like to cause problems. What the newspapers and news channels don't tell you is that most problems are coming from the housing areas. I know for a fact that Minnesota Ave. runs through both of the sections of Lonsdale. Interesting to know just where the shooting took place. Please consider peoples feelings when you start making everyone feel like they live in a bad part of town because it's not ALL bad. If driving through the neighborhood bothers you, then don't.
