KNOXVILLE (Tenn.) --- Hours after leaving jail, two of the arrested UT Football players came a campus christian group meeting, according to a group member and fellow teammate.

The group, Team United Athletes in Action meets every week.

But Vol freshman walk-on Josh Davis says what happened Thursday night was an amazing spiritual moment.

"It probably might have been the most amazing experience of my life," Davis said. "It wasn't an emotional night. It was an encounter, an encounter with God."

The regular weekly meeting happened the same day as Volunteer T-V's cameras caught three U-T freshman football players being arrested.

The trio of Mike Edwards, Janzen Jackson, and Nu'Keese Richardson was charged with attempted armed robbery.

"It was on everyone's mind, obviously, just to pray for them and keep them in their thoughts, but it was never discussed," Davis said.

But Thursday's meeting of praise and worship ran longer than usual.

And Davis says just before it was set to end Edwards, just out of jail, unexpectedly arrived.

"He recommitted himself to Christ, which was an absolutely fantastic thing. Everyone was praying for him, and we've been praying for him all day, and for the team and their families. He did something pretty incredible," Davis said.

Jackson was also back in the dorms by then.

And Davis says the group brought him in as well.

"Everyone put their hands on him, and prayed for him, just praise and worship again, let them make their peace," Davis said.

The arrested players still have to get through legal and university issues.

But Davis says far as the he's concerned, Edwards and Jackson are forgiven.

"100 percent without a doubt. That's what they needed, and that's what they got it. I'm very thankful for it," Davis said.

Davis says the focus should be on the night as a whole, not just the arrested football players' attendance.

He says the fact that so many college students meet for christian fellowship during the week, when they could be doing other things, s incredible.

Davis hopes the campus group continues to grow.

It makes me feel so much better to know that God is not forgotten on our college campus. It is also good to know that the Tn Vols involved in the robbery that took place recognize what they have done. I pray that this is sincere and that God will help them to make wiser decisions in the future. We need to pray for all our youth. They don't realize that in a split second the decisions that make can change the course of their life.
