SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Friends say Leah Avril was full of life, as amazing as she was beautiful.
Tonight, the 18 year old recent Sevier County High graduate is dead.
Deputies say her boyfriend, 21-year-old Jacob Stanton shot and killed her about 24 hours ago.
Talking to Leah's friends, she won't soon be forgotten.
One look at her Facebook page proves it.
Dozens and dozens of friends posting memorials to her.
Among them, Chelsea, Taylor, and Lauren who say they'll never forget Leah and her one of a kind smile.
"There was Facebook status going around like crazy and nobody really believed it at first. Slowly but surely everyone found out for sure," says Aaron Medlin, who cheered with Leah in school.
For the good friends of Leah Avril, Facebook was one way of finding out she had died but for some it couldn't have gotten any worse.
"I was actually leaving a funeral and I was in the parking lot and I just couldn't believe it," says Chelsea Reagan, a close friend of Leah's.
This one time Sevier County High School cheerleader was known as a loving person by her friends.
"That she was so caring. She cared about everything and everyone," says Taylor Gonzalez, a close friend of Leah's.
21 year old Jacob Stanton is charged with her murder after she was found with a gunshot wound to her chest in a bed at an apartment off Murrell Meadows Drive around 6 pm Tuesday.
Some who knew Stanton called him a hothead.
"I've had conflicts with the kid before myself. Anger wise, there was never discussing anything. It was always jump to conclusion," says Dustin Palmeri, who knows the suspect.
Before the murder Stanton was charged with possession of marijuana and prescription pills.
An ex-girlfriend took out an order of protection against him just last year.
That was dismissed when she failed to come to court.
Leah's friends remember her as a true friend who went above and beyond the call of duty.
"She went with me to get my hair done for three hours just to sit there and talk to me and laugh," says Reagan.
They're just disappointed they didn't get to say goodbye.
"It made me feel bad because I just hope she knew she meant a lot to me," says Lauren Latham, a close friend of Leah's.
Stanton was arraigned Wednesday morning by a judge.
He remains in the Sevier County Jail on a million dollar bond.
We'll pass along funeral arrangements for Avril when we have them.

Proverbs says, "Good men must die, but death can not kill their names." This verse is PERFECT for LEAH.. She's left us with such a legacy, and she will live on. THANK YOU LEAH FOR MAKING AN IMPACT ON NOT ONLY MY LIFE BUT MANY OTHERS. THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING SO CARING AND SWEET. WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU SO MUCH!!!! But most importantly, thank you for accepting Jesus into your heart when he gave the invitation and being an unashamed Christian. You are such an example for us all!!! I imagine you dancing, singing, LAUGHING, and praising just like you always did... I can't WAIT to see you there; what a reunion it will be <3. For everyone that didn't know Leah, she would have blessed your soul. I'm sure she already has from hearing about her. This happening to her is so disgusting, hurting, and unreal. She was precious. He took her life! "Accident" (<-I don't believe it!) or not. JUSTICE BE SERVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone has good roots. Not one person on this earth is completely awful 24/7. Unless you're Satan. For Leah to see good qualities in Jake, I'm sure he was a good person. But, who isn't? And his family might be good people.. but Everyone makes mistakes. For instance, think of "preacher's kids." Not one of you can tell me you don't fall. And are not some falls worse than others? Answer: YES. A life starting with alcohol leads to drugs, drugs lead to violence, violence leads to the need to have guns (why else would he have them? He wasn't a hunter), and the guns lead to death. All of this is sin. Everything happens for a purpose. God has a plan, and people make the choices. This land is ruled by people but the people are ruled by God. Doesn't get much more powerful than that. So therefore, I don't think anyone here is at voice to say whether it was an accident or not. You don't know. Only GOD DOES. Leah is gone but Jake is still here.. *What Would Jesus Do* Justice be served.
Ok wow this girl is the sweetest thing in the world! Im tired of everyone saying they were in love heck no she barely knew him. He is a drug dealer, he has a short temper, and he put her in so many bad positions that she personally told me about. So for all u that said it wasnt planned or whatever of course it wasnt but he's crazy and little things set him off so yes i believe it wasnt planned but I believe he knew exactly what he was doing. I believe she cared for him but stayed with him bc she was scared he had her so brain washed that Leah didnt even know who she was anymore (she was not the same girl) I agree with everything the person below says this is a sick world and he needs to be served justice, and needs God!
