CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- "Campbell County 9-1-1. Yes ma'am there's been an accident out here on the highway, out by Cove Lake. A car just went over the bridge. Okay, is it in the water? Yeah, it is. Is there still somebody in it? Yeah, I guess so. We just saw it go over the guardrail and into the water."
That 9-1-1 call, about 11:30 last night. 21-year old Courtney Ford's Nissan Altima, for some undetermined reason, veers off the road, hits a guardrail and plunges into Cove Lake, flipping on it's hood. A Caryville dive team spends an hour pulling Ford from her car, and she's initially pronounced dead at the scene.
"It's tough getting that call early in the morning and realizing what happened," said Ernie Ford, Courtney's Uncle.
While Courtney's family is in shock, a second call is made.
"We got the call that she had, was deceased, but then later on, they had revived her. The emotional roller coaster is off set by the opportunity to be able to go in and say bye to one that you dearly love."
Emergency workers say Courtney's pulse was faint, and she was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in Campbell County in critical condition. She was then transported to UT Medical Center, where she died early this morning. Family members say Courtney will be remembered as a loving and caring young woman and mother.
"She always smiled and that was on of the things. She was a good person," said Cousin Cameron Ford.
Cousin Zack Johnson said "She was a very kind person and she would never put you down, you know, always be there for you."
"She has a little girl. How old? She has a ten-month old and that's the hard thing and it's also a blessing in it least we'll have a little piece of Courtney around, " Ernie Ford, said.

Investigators say Courtney Ford, 21, of Powell, was driving north on Highway 25 when she lost control of her car, struck a guardrail and flipped upside down, landing in Cove Lake.
The car sank in about 15 feet of water.
It took crews about an hour to pull Ford from the car.
She was pronounced dead at UT Medical Center around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
