Statement from University of Tennessee Chancellor Loren Crabtree:

The University of Tennessee community is deeply saddened by today's events at Virginia Tech University, and our thoughts and prayers are with their entire campus. We have been closely monitoring this tragic situation from its onset this morning. Of course, we stand ready to assist our colleagues in any way possible at this time of tragedy.

As a campus, this event reminds us of the critical importance of our safety and security efforts. While we are not at any heightened state of alert at this time, we do remind all members of our campus community to be familiar with safety procedures in their departments, residence halls and classes.
