KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- You no longer have to be pregnant, less than six months old or have an underlying medical condition to get the H1N1 flu shot in Knox County.
Jennifer Johnson is an acting director of nursing at the Knox County Health Department She says, "We hope we've vaccinated a majority of those folks in the county and now we want to focus on those not in high risk groups, but are interested in getting vaccinated."
The Knox County Health Department is reaching out to everyone beginning Monday, after vaccinating around 30-thousand patients at high-risk.
Johnson says, "one person getting vaccinated will protect their family, those they come in close contact with, so really the more who get vaccinated the better off and healthier the community will be and protected against H1N1."
12-year-old Rachel Stoutt says, "No one should be sick when it's around Christmas and Thanksgiving, so close to the holidays."
Stoutt's father, Bo, says, "I think it's good. I think everyone should have the opportunity for the vaccination if they want."
If you want to stay protected against H1N1, you can beginning Monday. The Knox County Health Department says they'll have more than 2000 vaccines available to protect you or loved one.
In addition to the H1N1 flu shot, the Knox County Health Department says an increase of deliveries of H1N1 intranasal vaccine means they'll resume in-school vaccination clinics the first three days of next week. More than 3200 students are projected to be vaccinated during this time.
