NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- State employees are donating 360 prepaid phone cards to Tennessee military personnel stationed in Iraq and more than $2,000 to a local veteran's project.
The cards will be sent to soldiers in the 230th Air Calvary Squadron, which includes soldiers from Smyrna, Jackson and Louisville. Soldiers will have more than 39,000 minutes to call home.
Employees are also helping local veterans with a donation to Operation Stand Down Nashville. The charity provides local veterans with training and support, placing a special emphasis on homeless veterans.
According to a news release, the donations came from staff working in the offices of Tennessee's secretary of state, the state comptroller and the state treasurer.
