KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee basketball coach Bruce Pearl announced Saturday that junior center Brian Williams has been reinstated to the team. Williams has not taken part in any team-related activities since being placed on indefinite suspension following a traffic stop on Jan. 1—missing nine games, or close to one-third of the regular season. The Bronx, N.Y., native will dress for the Volunteers’ home game against South Carolina Saturday (6 p.m. ET, ESPN).
“I have said all along that each individual involved in last month’s incident would be treated fairly—not necessarily treated the same—but treated fairly,” Pearl said. “From the time that he was suspended, Brian missed half the remaining season.
“As we’ve worked through this process, we have tried to learn, grow and move forward in a positive direction.”
