KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) If your travel plans for the St. Valentine's Day weekend take you on a flight through Atlanta, you may be in for a problem.

Delta Airlines has slimmed down it's schedule out of Atlanta as the city braces for a rare snowfall event that could drop 1 to 3 inches on Atlanta by the end of Friday.

After a break on Saturday, more snow is expected on Sunday.

To prepare, Delta cut 400 flights out of Atlanta including all but one departure out of Knoxville.

The only departure Delta Flight 4988 made it to Atlanta around 8:30 this morning.

This will likely stranded hundreds of passengers here in Knoxville, and could strand hundreds of Knoxville bound passengers in other cities.

And because Atlanta is Delta's biggest hub, it could cause major delays and cancellations on flights to other cities through the weekend.

Delta has other hubs in Detroit, Minneapolis, Memphis, Salt Lake City and a scaled down hub in Cincinnati.

But fewer Delta flights depart from those cities for Knoxville then from Atlanta.
