Check your mailboxes and you should see a letter from the U.S. Census.
But it's not the census form you have to fill out.
Instead its a letter letting you know the census form is coming.
Some people are wondering if it's a waste of your dollars.
But one census official says what will really cost dollars is if you don't fill out the form.
Doug Porter and his wife live in Knoxville.
They got a letter from the census bureau about his census form arriving next week.
Doug Porter of Knoxville says, "What a colossal waste of money telling them they're going to get another letter."
But the biggest cost for the 2010 Census is having to go back to the addresses to those who don't fill out a census form.
Marty Coffman, the local Census office manager says, "So the Census is spending money to remind people to return the form to get a bigger return or participation from the American public."
Cindi Alpert and her husband moved to West Knoxville recently.
This is her first time participating in a census.
Cindi Alpert, of West Knoxville says, "This is something new for me. I think it's worthwhile and it only takes a couple of minutes, so I'm going to fill it out."
But some people might not fill it out, but you need to.
Just one percentage point increase in return or participation rate saves us as taxpayers 85 million dollars.
It's easy.
They're the shortest form in census history.
It's just 10 questions.
It takes 10 minutes and it asks name, sex, date of birth, age, housing situation, race and ethnicity.
Coffman says, "There shouldn't be any reason for people to lie. There aren't any personal questions. We ask nothing about bank accounts or social security numbers."
So for Doug Porter and Cindy Alpert, they'll send the form's in as soon as they get them which will save taxpayers money by limiting the amount of census workers traveling door to door.

What I think is a shame is that the reporter who wrote this story did such a poor job of editing it. Please check your spelling, your punctuation, and your overall text. All are in need of correction!
