Knoxville (WVLT) -- Tired of long hours at the office and not enough time with your family?
You're not alone.
This afternoon we caught up with some folks at the Work From Home Job Fair who are looking to make their own hours.
Hundreds of East Tennesseans may be one step closer to working from home today.
"I'm just looking for something to supplement my income right now and try to get to something where I can stay at home," said Amber Burchfield who works such long hours that she's afraid her 18 month old doesn't recognize her at times. "I lose a lot of time with him and that bond. We're getting kind of separated where he's not sure around me."
That's why she's here at the work from home job fair.
"I love cooking more than anything else," Burchfield said. "It's one of my big passions, and as far as I can see, the "Two Sisters" is one that really peaks my interest."
"Look and do some research and understand that it does have to be a passion to change your lifestyle," said Carmen Wilson who has been her own CEO for "Beauty Control Spa Escapes" for five years now. "I chose to leave a corporate court reporting career to stay home and take care of my kids."
Wilson says it was the best decision she's ever made for her children.
"It's so emotional to be torn between your family and your job and I don't have to do that," Wilson said.
After just 18 months of selling products, she says she has earned a 2007 Mustang.
"Your income depends on how hard you work it," said Ashlee Walker, the job fair coordinator.
Experts say more and more people are interested in setting their own salary and schedule.
"A job is just over broke," said David Kerr who works from home. "Your employer pays you just enough to keep you there and sometimes you work just hard enough not to get fired."
If you missed today's fair, the next one will take place at the expo center on February 16th.
The experts also warn you to do your research when looking to work from home.
They say there are some out there that will try to take advantage of you.
