GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Talbott man will spend the next fifteen years in a federal penitentiary after he pleaded guilty to producing child pornography in August 2011, according to the Dept. of Justice. Jeremiah Chance Stallans will also remain on supervised release for the remainder of his life and pay a $100 special assessment.
Authorities began investigating him after two undercover agents reportedly received images and movies depicting child rape from Stallans via the Internet. When the Morristown Police Dept. searched his home they found 254 still images and 83 videos containing child pornography stored in his home-built computer.
The Dept. of Justice said the children in the videos were as young as babies.
"Fortunately, the federal criminal justice system has adequate sentences to punish this type of conduct," said U.S. Attorney Bill Killian. "The local and federal law enforcement cooperative work, along with AUSA Helen Smith, resulted in this conviction."
The Dept. of Justice said the case came as a result of Project Safe Child, a Justice Dept. initiative launched in 2006 which is designed to combat the spread of technology-based sexual exploitation of children.
