Burchett combines Risk Management and Human Resources departments
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- With the retirement of Human Resources Director Frances Fogerson, Knox Co. Mayor Tim Burchett plans to combine her department with Risk Management. Risk Management Director Mark Jones will oversee the newly structured department, while Deputy Veteran Services Officer Colonel Richard Julian will take over as Human Resource Manager.
“Combining these two departments just makes sense, and now is the right time to do it,” Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett said. “Making these changes will increase efficiency in the way we do business by bringing two very closely-related departments together."
Burchett pointed to Jones' 17 years of experience in Knox Co. as well as his degrees in law, business, and public health when he describes the director as "uniquely suited" to lead the combined department.
The change will go into effect on following Fogerson's retirement on February 13.
“I want to thank Frances for the consistent, professional work that she did for Knox County, and I think these changes are the best way to ensure that our Human Resource Department continues to operate efficiently and professionally,” Mayor Burchett said.
