Report: Vaccines generally safe, some side effects

(WVLT)- It's been a topic of debate between doctors, parents and health officials for years. Are vaccines safe for our kids?

A safety review released by the Institute of Medicine says vaccines can cause some side effects- but serious ones are rare.

It also says there's no link with vaccines and Diabetes or Autism.

The report clears the Flu vaccine of being a cause for Bell's Palsy and the worsening of Asthma.

But some of the bad news is that some vaccines can trigger seizures, brain inflammation, viral infection and allergic reactions.

Health officials still say it is important to get your child immunized.
