NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Storm victims across the state can now go online to get free legal assistance.
More than 250 volunteer lawyers stand ready to assist people on the new website created by the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services.
The site also offers free legal advice to people who cannot afford a lawyer in civil cases.
The website serves as a virtual walk-in clinic where clients can log on and get basic legal advice about a specific problem.
The website does not provide assistance in criminal cases, and there are income restrictions.
Those who need help can log on at OnlineTNJustice.org and post legal questions that will remain anonymous and only be seen by a volunteer attorney. The lawyers give basic advice but do not provide long-term representation.
