The Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church will be holding a number of events for the Knoxville community in response to the recent tragedy experienced by the congregation.
IN THE COMMUNITY
On Friday, 1 August 2008, at 7 p.m., the public is invited to a service at the Muslim Community Center of Knoxville, 100 13th Street SW, 37916. The event, “Standing Together: A Community in Solidarity,” is being sponsored by the Muslim Community Center and the Knoxville Interfaith Network. Media representatives are welcomed. Speakers from several faiths will reflect on the recent events. Refreshments and fellowship will follow.
On Saturday, 2 August 2008, at 11 a.m., the Church of the Savior United Church of Christ will host “An Interfaith Service of Healing,” focusing on healing words and music. The church is at 934 North Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, 37909.
AT TVUUC
On Sunday, 3 August 2008, at 10 a.m., the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church will hold a service rededicating the church sanctuary. The public is welcome to attend but cautioned that parking will be limited and priority seating will go to church members and people who were in attendance at the service on 27 July. Overflow seating is planned for the Knoxville Teen Center next-door.
A photographer from the Knoxville News Sentinel and a videographer from WBIR-TV (Channel 10) have been invited to provide pool images for all other media.
Seating is being set aside for attendees who do not wish to be photographed, and media cameras will not be allowed to photograph people sitting in those areas.
No media photography will be permitted inside the TVUUC building before the Sunday morning service.
OTHER AREA UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST SERVICES
Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church will meet at 10 a.m. at the church building at 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike. The theme of the service will be “We Shall Not Be Moved.”
The regular First Sunday Service at Foothills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. Everett Senior Center in Maryville instead of the usual 11 a.m.
