Norfolk Southern has increased train speeds at the following East Tennessee crossings:

Monroe County

• North Street, Walnut Street, Monroe Street: 30 mph to 50 mph
• Old Sweetwater Road: 50 mph to 55 mph
• Head of Creek Road: 50 mph to 55 mph

Bradley County

• Sam Goodwin Road: 40 mph to 50 mph
• Cass Street, Wool Street: 45 mph to 50 mph

Greene County

• Snapps Ferry Road, Poor Farm Road, Parkins Road, Burns Street, Hankins Street, Austin Street, Willis Street, and West Church Street: 35 mph to 40 mph
• West Irish Street, Wiley Street, and King Street: 35 mph to 45 mph

Hamblen County

• High Street, South Fairmont Ave., South Economy Road: 25 mph to 40 mph
• Pearce Drive and New Line Road: 35 mph to 40 mph
• E. Morris Boulevard: 35 mph to 50 mph
• Shelby Williams Drive and Larry Baker Road: 35 mph to 45 mph
• Sugar Hollow Road: 35 mph to 55 mph
• South Bellwood Road, Buell Road and May Road: 50 mph to 60 mph

Jefferson County

• Dandridge Pike, State Road 1310, Depot Street, Kress Farm Road, County Road, Hodges Switch Road, Hodges Switch Road #2: 50 mph to 60 mph
• Ken Manley Road: 50 mph to 55 mph

Knox County

• Cessna Road, Gallahar View Road, Fox Road, and Woody Road will increase from 50 mph to 55 mph.

Loudon County

• South Grand Street, Nelson Street, C Street: 30 mph to 40 mph
• Lakeview Road, Highland Avenue, Keene Street, Bell Road, Pondcreed Road, Christian Street and Reed Spring Road: 50 mph to 55 mph

McMinn County

• Old Riceville Road: 35 mph to 60 mph
• Sterling Road, Coile, Sanford Road: 50 mph to 60 mph
• Howard Street, Westside Street: 35 mph to 40 mph
• Reagan Road, Farrell Street: 50 mph to 55 mph
• Telico, Fisher Street: 35 mph to 50 mph

Washington County

• Ridge Road: 45 mph to 50 mph
• Rauhof Road: 40 mph to 50 mph.

Cowboy Mounted Shooting
The World Championship of Cowboy Mounted Shooting took place over the weekend. As a sport, it’s fairly new with competitions formally beginning in 1991.

Mounted shooters use a .45 caliber single action revolver like those used in the Wild West. Riders take their horses around the arena with a predetermined pattern and shoot at balloons.
