NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Travelers wanting to fly to Nashville will soon have another option which will let them circumvent many of the hassles associated with flying and do so more cheaply.

Social Flights announced regularly scheduled round-trip flights to and from the Music City for only fifty dollars. Because they are using private planes, the company said getting onto the plane will feel more like being in a hotel lobby than a airport terminal.

"Basically you can turn up 30 minutes prior to wheels up. You walk into an FBO, which is a fixed-base operation, which is basically like a hotel lobby," said Social Flight's Rachel Charlize. "So the experience is 5-star from beginning to end."

"This service will enable local residents to go back and forth from Nashville or Knoxville for UT games or students wanting to come home for the weekend this winter" said Social Flights CEO Jay Deragon.

The company partnered with Smyrna-based Corporate Flight Management (CFM) to offer scheduled charter service, who said they're pleased to offer service and are already looking to expand.

"Working with Social Flights we will be looking to expand service to other markets such as Johnson City, TN and Destin, FL or other cities where air service is limited," said Allen Howell, CFM's CEO. By using Social Flights technology any underserved market can now create air service on demand.”

Social Flights uses social media to match traveler's with seats on private planes. More than 10,000 people have already registered and the company said it offers hundreds of flights daily.

“Technology is disrupting many business models and traditional air services are ripe for change," according to Deragon. "Private aviation provides a much higher quality and improved value experience that we intend on bringing to the many rather than the few.”
