LONDON (AP) -- A French doctor has testified that a struggling Princess Diana hampered efforts to save her life in the moments following her fatal 1997 car crash.

The doctor, Andre Lienhart, told an inquest in London that medics had to restrain and sedate Diana before they could get her out of the mangled vehicle. He says a medical assistant reportedly had to hold Diana's arm by force to insert an IV drip, but the princess quickly pulled it out.

Speaking by video link from Paris, the doctor says a medical personnel who oversaw Diana's treatment from the accident scene to the hospital, recalled her thrashing and shouting incoherently.

Diana, her boyfriend and their driver all died in the Paris tunnel crash.

The doctor who testified today had studied the princess' treatment for a French investigation.
