The Tennessee House of Representatives honored the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complexes at Crossville and Fairfield Glade in October with a Proclamation for being a model for promoting healthy lifestyles.
State Rep. Eric Swafford (R-Cumberland and Bledsoe Counties) visited the facility’s 10th anniversary Open House to make the presentation.
The Proclamation noted in part, “…our state and nation places greater emphasis on proper nutrition and exercise. It is most appropriate for this General Assembly to honor those exemplary institutions and facilities that promote good health in a manner that has earned a positive response and universal acclaim from their respective communities.”
The Proclamation also recognized Tres Baucum, facilities manager, for his “vision by promoting healthy lifestyles through a wide variety of excellent programs.” Rep. Swafford especially noted cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, weight management, medical screenings, cardiovascular and weight training and aerobics.
The recent Medical Fitness Association Distinguished Achievement Award given to the Wellness Complexes was also mentioned in the Proclamation.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Jimmy Naifeh signed the document on Sept. 19, 2007, along with Rep. Swafford as representative of the 25th House District.
