Knoxville, TN, August 26, 2008 – Knoxville-based Highway Transport companies are not only celebrating National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2008 (Aug. 24- 30) but also unveiling a new brand identity for each of the following newly formed companies:
Highway Transport Chemical, LLC
Highway Transport Petroleum, LLC
Highway Transport Logistics, Inc.
Drivers and employees are celebrating with lunchtime cookouts at all facilities nationwide on Thursday, August 28. Everyone is receiving a variety of gifts (hats, ink pins, travel mugs…etc.) featuring the new company logos. In the near future, tankers will be fitted with new graphics, and a new website for each company is forthcoming.
The former company, Highway Transport, Inc., had always maintained a degree of separate chemical and petroleum operations within the organization, so the expansion into three separate entities has been a natural transition.
Greg Watkins, President and Chief Operations Officer of Highway Transport Logistics, Inc. says, “We are proud to make the last week of August all about our professional truck drivers and employees. This is the perfect week to introduce the new images to our employees nationwide. For 60 years we have considered our tanker drivers to be our greatest strength and the major reason for our success. Everyone is noticing the positive changes happening at each of the Highway Transport companies. While other carriers are struggling, we’re progressing—adding to our fleet and hiring employees and drivers. Our mission is to grow each company, and we’re succeeding in all areas of operation.”
Highway Transport Chemical, LLC has a presence in the following U.S. cities:

Gary Reagan, President of Highway Transport Chemical, LLC, says, “2008 has been a period of growth and diversification. Great companies are always growing and diversifying, and this is a great company. Our drivers and employees are the cornerstone of our success and growth. We are always changing and adapting to the current business climate. We listen to what our customers demand, and then we respond. Major customers ask us to extend our capabilities into other parts of the country, and we do what it takes to serve those customers. Highway Transport Chemical, LLC is pleased to announce that plans are underway to open a new Midwestern hub in Joliet, Illinois in 2009.”
Highway Transport Petroleum, LLC serves the areas surrounding Knoxville and Nashville, TN. John Wilson, President of Highway Transport Petroleum, LLC, says, “Each company brand is more than just a name or a logo. For over 60 years now, we have hauled petroleum throughout Tennessee and to points beyond. Highway’s brand has been what describes the lifelong relationship we have with our customers. To many in this region, our name and company image brings to mind concepts such as “petroleum tanker” and “Knoxville trucking company.” Updating our identity will help improve our national growth, the appearance of our equipment, and most importantly it will reflect the new Highway Transport Petroleum that all of our drivers and employees have helped create. After the upcoming changes, I expect Highway Transport Petroleum, LLC to emerge stronger and better-suited address the new business growth that is coming our way.”
According to Bob Godsmark, recruiting manager for Highway Transport Chemical, LLC, “Any changes these companies make?--are made with the best interests of drivers in mind.”
In addition to competitive pay and an intense focus on safety, another attractive feature is free medical insurance for drivers after 15 consecutive years of service. Godsmark continues, “We are committed to providing excellent income potential and benefits. Our 60-year tank industry legacy allows us to offer a superior health insurance benefit than most other tank truck carriers. For every three consecutive years of tank truck driving, health insurance rates get reduced by 20%. Ultimately, after 15 years of service, our drivers do not have to pay anything for their family health benefit.”
Each of the Highway Transport companies is proud to celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2008 (Aug. 24- 30). According to the American Trucking Association, this is the week when America's 3.5 million drivers are in for a nationwide pat on the back in recognition of their hard work moving the goods and products making up our national economy.
