INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Jimmie Johnson grabbed his second win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by surviving horrendous tire troubles that made Sunday's race a caution-marred debacle.

A durability issue with the tires Goodyear brought to the Brickyard forced NASCAR to slow the race with competition cautions designed to make teams change their tires. It created fears of a tire shortage -- and Goodyear shipped in 800 tires earmarked for use next week in Pocono -- because the longest green-flag run of the race was an embarrassing 12 laps.

With cautions called every 10 to 12 laps, no one was certain what the correct strategy was or if they had enough rubber to make it to the end.

Johnson did, emerging from the final pit stop as the leader then holding off Carl Edwards for the victory.
