GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- A Wisconsin motorist has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for hitting two pedestrians while he was drunk, then driving home and falling asleep with one of the victims stuck in his windshield.

That man died. A 42-year-old woman who was left injured in the road was paralyzed and now lives in a nursing home.

The driver, 40-year old Steven Warrichaiet (WAR'-shee), pleaded no contest to homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, and hit-and-run resulting in death.

Authorities say Warrichaiet drove more than a mile to his house, parked in his garage, fell asleep on a couch and didn't notice the body in the windshield until he woke up hours later. That's when he called 911.

Authorities say even then, his blood-alcohol level was more than twice Wisconsin's legal limit for driving.

A letter read at yesterday's sentencing hearing apologizes for the unimaginable pain and suffering he's caused the victims and their families.
