DALLAS (AP) -- If you're planning to fly on American Airlines today, better check ahead. The carrier has canceled more than 900 additional flights to inspect and fix faulty wiring in hundreds of its jets.

This marks the third straight day of mass groundings at American.

Company executives are offering profuse apologies, along with travel vouchers, to calm angry customers.

American is the nation's largest carrier, and it has now scrubbed more than 2,400 flights since Tuesday. That's when federal regulators warned the carrier that nearly half its planes could violate a safety requirement for wires to be properly bundled to keep them from rubbing together and causing an electrical short or even a fire.

More than one in three flights have been canceled over the last three days. And there could be more cancellations tomorrow.
