PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Hillary Rodham Clinton is the winner of the Pennsylvania primary.

About an hour after the polls closed, the former first lady was ahead with 53 percent of the vote. Barack Obama had 47 percent.

Exit polling shows Clinton getting support from blue-collar workers, women and white voters.

The economy is a looming issue in Pennsylvania. More than 80 percent of those surveyed as they left their polling places say they believe the country is already in a recession.

Clinton won despite being heavily outspent by her rival in a six-week campaign that allowed plenty of time for both candidates to court voters.
