HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- A new bid will be submitted for NASA's next-generation space suit, less than a week after the space agency terminated a contract with a Houston company.

Exploration Systems & Technology, a joint venture between Hamilton Sundstrand and ILC Dover, two companies that have supplied space suits and components since the 1960s, said Thursday it is waiting for formal direction from NASA on criteria for the rebidding.

Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of Hartford-based United Technologies Corp.

The agency terminated its contract Aug. 15 with Oceaneering International. NASA told the U.S. Government Accountability Office that it would re-examine the cost proposals of the two bidders.

NASA spokesman Grey Hautaluoma said the space agency will not comment on procurements.

A message seeking comment was left with Oceaneering International.
